WHAT ELSE ARE WE UP TO...
Crumb’s paws
for thought
Congratulations to Gareth Brown who was
promoted to Operations Director earlier
this year. Gareth talked about his career
with Blakedale and new role in a special
“On the Road” feature in the March 2016
issue of Highways Magazine, a digital
copy of the issue is available at
.
Congratulations also go to Blakedale’s
super Fleet Technicians, Eddie Farnhill
and Russ Porter who recently qualified to
conduct full safety inspections on Light
Arrow and IP70 Verdigro Crash Cushion
Vehicles, having undergone specialist
training.
Elsewhere at Blakedale HQ, we are pleased
to announce the permanent appointment of
Sophia Lavarini who took up the post
of Fleet Coordinator within our busy Fleet
Management Team back in May. Sophia
shone in her interview and is already
proving to be a huge asset to the team.
We are also delighted to welcome back
Fleet Administrator, Kirsty Browitt-Finch
who has recently returned frommaternity
leave having become a mummy to Archie
(who is super cute) back in November last
year. It’s great to have you back Kirsty!
Finally Sales Director, Dave Staiano
would like to thank everyone who helped
him to raise £1,140 for the British Heart
Foundation. Having undergone heart
surgery two years ago, Dave completed a
sponsored DECHOX, which involved giving
up chocolate for the whole of March,
including Easter. Dave was awarded a
special medal by the charity for being one
of its top-eight DECHOX fundraisers.
“As CEO (Canine Executive Officer)
I have a very full schedule. Things
never slow down here at Blakedale HQ.
Thanks to the team’s continuing hard
work, our range of Traffic Management
Vehicles and road marker post products
is now even bigger and better, as you’ll
have read.
Being such a high-flying pooch can
take its toll on one’s work-life balance,
but this is something I try very hard to
perfect, with the help of my well-trained
owner, Carmen (I’m not sure why she
calls herself my owner – it’s definitely
the other way round!)
I go on lots of walks and, not to be
outdone by Blakedale’s new multi-
camera system, I now have my very
own “Crumb-cam” which tracks my
whereabouts while I’m out exploring
and enjoying the great outdoors of our
countryside home.
I also go to doggy swimming lessons!
It’s lots of fun and a great way to stay in
shape. My instructor says I’mmaking
excellent progress…Canine Olympics
here I come!”

Blakedale is well known for “racing ahead”
in the development of “thoroughbred”
Traffic Management Vehicles with lots of
“horse power”, but in August we enjoyed a
more traditional kind of racing.
Some of our loyal customers joined us
in donning their hats and sharp suits for
Ladies’ Day at the Yorkshire Ebor Festival
at York Racecourse.
Going to the races is a highlight of the
Blakedale social calendar. This was our
first time at this particular meeting and it
did not disappoint. A wonderful time was
had by all. Pictured opposite are Yvonne
Findlay and Mike Palmer from Nexus.
