New Post Marks New Marker Post Operation

Mar 24, 2015

As leading traffic safety specialists we have gone back to our roots and bolstered our marker posts division with investments in new machinery and a new sales manager.

Our multi million pound business, which specialises in Impact Protection Vehicles initially started out manufacturing distance marker posts for motorways when we launched 15 years ago.

The investment in new machinery will allow us to also now produce hazard delineator posts, which are used for traffic calming on motorway slip roads or rural roads or any other points of potential danger.

To head up this new operation we have recruited industry expert Paul Durham to allow us to further concentrate on this growing area of the business.

Our Managing Director Carmen Bowley said: “We are really pleased to have Paul on board to allow us to focus on our marker post division with its extended product line thanks to the new machinery.

“Already in the first three months since having Paul and the machine we have seen an increase in orders.”

Paul joined us from fellow local manufacturer Ellis Flint.

Paul said: “Blakedale is a leading light in the traffic management and safety industry and with a broader product offering we stand in great stead to make waves in this market just as we have already with standard marker posts as well as the crash cushions.”

We are a family business, which launched in 1999 following the sale of Carmen’s Father’s business Fred Smith Street Lighting to the McAlpine Group.

Carmen started off literally making the marker posts by hand and has since grown the business and diversified along with her brothers Operations Director Richard Smith and Finance Director Jonathan Smith.

In addition to the motorway marker posts and hazard delineators we can also produce flexible marker posts ideal for use on wind farms as well as snow markers for rural routes.

We are the leading name in traffic safety also specialising in the hire of Impact Protection Vehicles and self contained welfare units for workforce crews on site. Our team of 11 office and engineering staff operate from their Mill Lane head office in Chorley.
