After having open heart surgery 18 months ago, Blakedale’s Sales Director, Dave Staiano knows the importance of the work carried out by the British Heart Foundation. To help raise funds for lifesaving heart research, Dave took on the charity’s DECHOX challenge, which involved giving up chocolate for the entire month of March.

For the self-confessed chocoholic, this meant absolutely no chocolate bars, no chocolate cake and no choccy biscuits, not even any hot chocolate!

Despite the temptation of Easter Eggs towards the end of March, Dave successfully completed his DECHOX and has so far raised £1,090 in sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation, completely smashing his target of £250. Congratulations Dave!

“Some 18 months ago I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. It’s at times like that you realise how vitally important it is to keep up the funding into research, education, care and awareness to prevent heart disease,” says Dave.

“Thanks to everyone who donated for your support. I am delighted with how much money I was able to raise for this great cause.”
